Quick tip for you… If you are like me, and cannot ever remember any measurements outside of 8 bits in a byte, 12 inches in a foot, a football field is 100 yards, which in turn is 300 feet (3 feet in a yard)… then simple tricks to help you with measuring are always good!
When you are going to boil water for your mountain house meal on the trail, and you realize that the directions call for 2 cups of water, and, like me, your mind blanks out… having something on your Nalgene will help with this.
Traditional Nalgene bottles (I refer to them as these as I have not been shopping for one in 15 years…) are 1000 ml bottles, and have a measurement in both ml and oz on the side. Take a knife or something else and scrape a mark at the 8oz, 16oz, 24oz, and 32oz markers, as there are 8 oz in a cup.
This tip was one I picked up on my last backpacking trip from my friend… brilliant idea, and, I had to share it.
