I just stumbled across this thing… I do not own one, so this is less of a review, and more of a “COOL! LOOK WHAT I JUST FOUND ON THE INTERNETS!” post. The Crovel Extreme Ultimate Survival Multi-tool. This site has a hilarious review of it.
By judging from their site, they’ve had a few design changes, however, it does all of this:
- Shovel
- Crowbar
- Prybar
- Knife (no real replacement for a handheld knife though…)
- Axe
- Hoe
- Hammer
- Serrated Knife
- Cleaver
- Saw
- Machete
- Can Opener
- Grapping Hook
- Chair
While I love my army surplus family heirloom folding shovel when camping (see, that picture on the right? just like that one), I think it may have just found it’s replacement!
I wonder if I can still return my Gerber Gator Machete Jr. to Bass Pro Shops? I’ve only used it a dozen or so times… oh well, if they don’t take it back, I am sure that Nordstrom’s will!
Now, the only part that confuses me is the “chair” part. How can a shovel be a chair? Especially this one with a knife and saw edge on it? Am I missing something?
As an avid hiker/backpacker, I would never carry this, it’s far too heavy.
@KioyteGirl I completely agree. I see this for use only in the car-camping world, and definitely not something to lug around on the trail. The only trail use I could see this being worthwhile on would be doing trail work, where you might not need a full shovel/axe/prybar, and this tool could suffice.
