Or at least I hope it will be! Pat’s Backcountry Beverages has developed a technology to carbonate beer on the trail, using a beer concentrate, a carbonator, and water.

The last update on their progress was on August 7, 2012, stating that they had obtained the proper required federal permits, and would begin brewing soon… it is now a waiting game, and one that I am definitely looking forward to.

So, let’s hope that the new year brings us some lightweight trail beer in 2013!

I would love to test this out on my upcoming winter backpacking trip in late February…
